After a two-year search Koen Roozen ( drummer with Flamborough Head ) finally managed to put together a new Dutch symfoband.

In 2009 Koen met Derk Evert Waalkens who, shortly before that, had released the splendid album “ Somateria Spectabilis “ together with Hans Gerritse ( of Nice Beaver ) under the name of King Eider.

Derk Evert also was searching for other symfo musicians. Koen and Derk Evert shared the same ideas and soon vocalist Jos Harteveld ( Pink Floyd Project ) joined the nucleus of a new band.

In September 2007 the idea came up to gig at that year’s edition of Progfarm under the name of King Eider, Hans Gerritse was asked on guitar and gladly joined the band. He introduced Nice Beaver bassplayer Peter Stel. For this occasion Koen asked Gert van Engelenburg on extra keys to join in. After a succesfull Progfarm gig Hans left the band.

At the same time Eddie Mulder ( Trion, Pink Floyd Project ) left Flamborough Head so after a while Koen asked Eddie to join the band on guitar, and so did Eddie.
On the 29th of February 2008 these gentlemen decided to name the band Leap Day.

Since then Leap Day recorded a well received demo which led to a recording deal with OSKAR, a Polish proglabel. Leap Day’s debut album has been released world wide in 2009.

The band’s music’s been influenced by the likes of Spock’s Beard, The Flower Kings, Porcupine Tree, IQ, Arena and more classic bands like Yes, Genesis and Camel.
